Job Description

As the Senior Vice President of Engineering, you will be part of the company's core leadership, playing a pivotal role in shaping our future. You will be a strategic thought-partner, reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive management team on topics such as hiring, capacity planning, and technology enhancements. You have the mindset that anything is possible and possess the willingness to do whatever it takes to meet objectives. You can collaborate closely with the team to improve the end product and increase revenue based on user feedback, as well as soliciting and managing product enhancement requests from Business Development and Customer Success. You enjoy coaching other engineers and building a great culture. You allow everyone around you to grow and improve their skills. You have the ability to lead and inspire an engineering team that will bring better products to market faster than our competition. Your passion will show in both the product innovation and in the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Thinking strategically and leading with action by a willingness to get your hands dirty
  • Creating, communicating, and maintaining product roadmap and milestones
  • Working with product managers and engineers to estimate, implement, and build features while ensuring that the team is working towards the top objectives
  • Anticipating the engineering schedule impact on other departments and communicating those impacts

  • Setting the vision for an environment of ingenuity and creativity while acting as a role model for others by challenging the status quo to encourage innovation
  • Contributing to high-level strategic planning decisions with the rest of the executive team
  • Leading and partnering with cross functional peers to drive efficiencies and accountabilities
  • Evaluating the relevance of new technologies or the impact of strategic and tactical moves
  • Ensuring all technical activities are developed in strategic alignment to the product and business goals, with a focus on solving real consumer needs
  • Identifying key risks, developing mitigation strategies and concurrent development paths
  • Defining, identifying, recruiting, pro-actively developing and building a top-talent engineering and product manager team,
  • Providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring the engineering team while nurturing their skill sets and capabilities

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5 years experience leading a development team of 40+ hardware and software engineers spanning multiple platforms
  • You have a clear history for "getting things done" and a demonstrated track record for managing a team through a structured development process You have hands-on experience working with outside consultants to identify fit, form contracts, and guide work to completion
  • You have a demonstrated ability to appreciate multidisciplinary problems and tackle technical challenges with creativity, where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors
  • You have an aptitude for problem-solving
  • You can manage and prioritize various requirements, deadlines, and projects
  • You have extraordinary communication skills
  • You have a history of building teams that are continuously shipping innovative product
  • You have built out a team and recruited in a competitive environment
  • You are great at conflict resolution
  • You manage via a culture of coaching, development and mentorship
  • You have a track record as a strong individual contributor
  • You have experience with agile development methodologies
  • You have a solid foundation with contract/vendor relations and asset inventory management
  • You have a background of coordination with multiple business units including: Marketing, Operations, and Business Development
  • You can coordinate with corporate IT systems and third-party technology (e.g. analytics/tracking, advertising systems, yield management)
  • You know how to establish and ensure adherence to high availability SLA for both private and public systems
  • You have the ability to develop team talent, including training and career growth
  • You have solid experience with virtualization and balancing cloud-based and local infrastructures as needed
  • You have proven experience in engineering, architecture, and implementation of high availability infrastructure and automation
  • You have a strong ability to work in a high-growth, dynamic, entrepreneurial, deadline driven environment
  • You are available to travel domestically and globally (Approximate Travel Required: 5%)
  • You have demonstrable project and product management experience, clearly defining and communicating the vision, strategy, roadmaps, and milestones
  • You have experience in leading and delivering large projects from concept to implementation including selecting talent and planning/allocating resources across multiple geographies and functions
  • You are comfortable with working in a fast paced environment, with ambiguity and evolving products, services, and approaches as necessary
  • You have experience working in early age, fast growth companies
  • Must be eligible to meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) access requirements
